Chaos Simulator 5000

Oh noes! Discord is up to his tricks again and has disabled Twilight's ability to walk and is showering her with parasprites! Can you survive the Chaos?

Chaos Simulator 5000

(Warning: Heavily WIP. Run at own risk for a good laugh) I wanted to do so much more with this but getting physics working was enough of a problem. So I made it into a non-sense game with what little time I had. basically, try and get twilight to worm her way out of the massive hoards of parasprites! There is no ending, only more parasprites.

The voice and music was a nice touch. But like you wrote, this is right now mostly a nonsensical game. I wish the spawn rate was a bit slower and I could hold keys instead of mashing (I guess what I really mean is I wish it checked pygame.key.get_pressed() for input). Oh and sometimes Twilight falls through the bottom of the floor in the middle (not the corners).

By Cantorlot

Thanks for the comment, Cantorlot! The spawn rate is suppose to be a bit slower (It did one for every frame which is 50 a second!) That was a problem when I bumped up the frame rate and did not see it until last minute. Ah, pygame.key.get_pressed() was probable what I was looking for. I decided to try python for the competition when I had no previous experience with python game making (I was lazy and didn`t want to use C, C++, or Java with OpenGL or Swing or anything else.) The same goes for the art and voice, all from scratch. I was reading how-tos with pygame, chipmunk physics engine, pixel art, and Inkscape. Makes me wish I had time for a decent menu. Anyhow, Twilight falling through the floor is caused by the physics engine registering an impulse when you press a key and she is still falling and breaks the constraints. Major bug indeed.

Adding to Cantorlot's bug list, you might want to add timidity++ to the Linux requirements. Otherwise, it was an interesting physics demo! :D

It seems that the download won't unpack the .exe regardless of wither I use the mirrored or downloaded version, and regardless of if I use winrar or 7-zip.

I'll add those to the requirements, thanks! And the reason is probable because of your anti-virus. Yes, this python executable is seen an malicious but is a false positive I assure you. The only top anti-virus detecting it right now is AVG. Every other AV says it is clean.
